Kerry Acton

Mr Kerry Acton is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery.  He was appointed to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford in 2007 and is one of the most experienced and active hip and knee surgeons in the department.  His undergraduate and specialist orthopaedic training took place in London and Surrey and he undertook a revision (re-replacement) hip and knee fellowship on the south coast.  His specialist interests include complex primary and revision replacement of the hip and knee and he carries out the majority of such cases in the area.  He has a particular interest in the treatment of young, active patients (including athletes), uncemented hip and knee prostheses and ceramic bearings.  He also carries out arthroscopy of both the hip and the knee.  He has developed a sub-specialist practice in the surgical treatment of metastatic (spread from cancers elsewhere) tumours of the pelvis and lower limb.  He also maintains an interest in trauma and fractures, particularly in the treatment of fractures around old hip and knee replacements.  He likes to concentrate on the practical side of orthopaedic surgery and training the next generation of surgeons, to this end he usually trains a senior clinical fellow as part of their transition from training to independent practice as a consultant.
